Welcome to the Spearfish Aquatics Club!

NOTICE
Locker room closures and Special Olympics

Beginning May 6th the farthest two locker rooms will be closed for complete renovation. The demolition date is not scheduled but will be happening soon. Please remove belongings from the lockers and transfer them to the first set of locker rooms. Locks will not be cut until a later date and we'll let you know as soon as possible when that time comes.

Also, as you may know, the Special Olympics for South Dakota  will take place at Black Hills State University on Friday, May 17.  Josh Roadifer at BHSU is seeking volunteers to assist in a variety of tasks.  If you'd like to lend a hand, please contact Josh as soon as possible at (605) 645-4034 joshua.roadifer@bhsu.edu.  There'll be no SAC swimming on May 17, and there are other closures in May of which you should be aware.  Check the calendar at right!

We remain delighted that the small warm pool at the Donald Young Center has re-opened for use.

For those who need entry to the small pool with the aid of the movable bottom:  please be there when the swim sessions begin.  The guards are to have the bottom of the pool up.  The process is slow and coordination with all who need assistance is important.  Egress time will need to be worked out with those using the therapy pool at the time.  While these arrangements may take some time to get worked out, it's wonderful to have the ability once again to serve all our members.

The SAC swimming schedule is back to five days a week (check the SAC Swimming and Events Schedule at right) .  This is a significant expansion of swimming opportunities -- and a splendid time to encourage friends and co-workers to consider a membership in the Spearfish Aquatics Club.

Information Cards about SAC are available at the Donald Young Center front desk and at other locations on campus and in the community.  Please feel free to pick up a couple of them and share with a friend!  You can also click on the image of the SAC Information Card (shown in the right hand column) to display a larger version of the card, which can be printed out and shared with others.  The card contains all the Membership Information that you can find by clicking on the Membership tab above.  Help us spread the word!

Remember, too, that the Spearfish Aquatics Club (SAC) Board of Directors has approved a new discount membership program that began in February.  New and renewing members can save 10 percent on memberships by signing up for six consecutive months for $135 instead of $150.

Families with up to five members may purchase a consecutive 6-month membership for $243 instead of $270. A new feature also allows BHSU students with a current university ID to purchase a monthly membership for $20.

An early heads up that the pools are scheduled for shutdown and cleaning in August; should that occur, the remainder of 6-month memberships may be moved into the fall months.Again, members are encouraged to watch for additional scheduling information via e-mail and on this web site.

The Spearfish Aquatics Club was formed in 2011 to support the reopening of the year-round pools at the Donald Young Center on the campus of Black Hills State University for use by residents of Spearfish and other northern Black Hills communities.

This effort is supported through membership dues and individual donations.

Both pools at the Young Center are now open to Club Members.  We have added a new Swimming and  Events Schedule for the Spearfish Aquatics Club to this web site.  It's posted at the top of the right hand column.  Or you can access it through the Schedule tab at the top of the page, which may work better on portable devices.  Simply click on the time for any additional details about the schedule for that day. Please check the schedule often for the latest swimming hours, which -- of course -- are subject to change.

We continue to support activities and events that encourage all forms of aquatic exercise, especially swimming.   It is our vision to integrate community wellness programs, as they relate to swimming for ease of access and reasonable cost to all members of the community.

This web site is intended to spur greater awareness about the Spearfish Aquatics Club, encourage membership, and keep members updated regarding meetings, any changes in hours of operation, and other related activities and events.

We encourage you to navigate through the various links above, as well as our Swimming and Events Schedule -- and to contact us if you have questions or would like further information.
